Product + Protection

What comes in the B2 Mask starter kit?

The B2 Mask starter kit includes 1 facepiece, 1 fabric overlay, and 10 filters.

What does B2 Mask filter?

B2 Mask filters 99% of airborne contaminants down to .1 micron. This includes mold, smoke, smog, viruses, bacteria, and other particulates. The first gen filters of the B2 Mask do not remove organic vapors. Testing of the filter material was conducted at Superior Felt & Filtration and Nelson Labs.

Does B2 Mask protect the novel coronavirus?

B2 Mask provides excellent protection via an airtight seal and high-efficiency filters that remove >99% of contaminants of a similar size to the novel coronavirus. However, the mask cannot eliminate the breathing in of all particles and cannot eliminate the possibility of becoming sick.

What materials are used to make B2 Mask?

B2 Mask features a molded facepiece made from FDA-approved plastics and elastomers. The filters are made from electrostatically charged non-woven polypropylene. The overlay is made from nylon, spandex, and neoprene for comfort and breathability.

Does B2 Mask come in different sizes?

The patent-pending hinged facepiece combined with the flexible seal allows the mask to accommodate a wide range of face shapes and sizes. We plan to release a kids size of the mask starting in the summer.

Does B2 Mask come in different colors?

B2 Mask’s first production run will be dark grey; however, we plan on releasing several colors shortly thereafter to provide you with various options.

Care / Use

How often do I need to change my filters?

It depends on how you use your B2 Mask. The filters offer 40-50 hours of protection before filtration efficiency starts to drop. See the recommendations below: Low or intermittent use such as occasional use while going out in public - Change every 2-3 weeks Medium use such as wearing consistently over the course of a week - Change weekly High use such as wearing for multiple hours a day or in the presence of sick individuals - change daily

How do I clean my B2 Mask?

The facepiece is easy to clean by hand or in a dishwasher and the overlay can be cleaned by hand or in the washing machine for easy maintenance.

Testing / Validation

Filtration Testing

Breathe99 is working with Superior Felt & Filtration who is using the TSI 8130 flow testing system to validate the filter material and design. We’re currently running additional tests to ensure that B2 Mask’s filter caps achieve proper clamping of the filter. Face Fit Testing

Initial quantitative fit-testing has been performed on several subjects in accordance with the FDA approved Portacount 8038 system. This early bench testing showed B2 Mask achieved a fit factor above 100 during normal motion. However, this testing doesn’t represent the range of face shapes and sizes. For this reason, Breathe99 is partnering with Anthrotech to conduct additional face fit testing with 25 participants that fill the NIOSH panel for face shape and head size

Regulatory

Is B2 Mask FDA or NIOSH certified?

The B2 Mask has been designed to comply with all relevant N99-level standards for respiratory protection per CFR 42 Part 84. The mask has not yet gone through regulatory approval.

When will B2 Mask be approved by regulatory bodies?

In the short term, Breathe99 will pursue Emergency Use Authorization from the FDA. Breathe99 is planning to submit to NIOSH to receive N99-level certification during the summer of 2020.
